5 Energy Boosting Tips for Keeping Up with Your Kids

Kids seem to have endless energy. They pop out of bed and go, go, go all day long. Parents meanwhile, don’t always move like energized bunnies.
Undoubtedly, you’d love to be able to keep up with your kids throughout the day. You’d relish being able to go from the playground to a fierce game of hide and seek to a tea party. Here are a few ways to boost your energy and stay active from morning ’till night.
1. Catch your ZZZZs
Getting through today started last night in the form of getting plenty of sleep. As parents, we make sure our kids get plenty of quality sleep, often to our own chagrin. People of all ages need rejuvenating sleep.1 Although sleep needs vary from person to person, adults typically need between seven and nine hours nightly.2
2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
The human body contains a high percentage of water, and keeping yourself hydrated will go a long way for your health. Being dehydrated can cause you to have various symptoms including tiredness. 3 Your liquid intake should come in the form of purified water, high-quality juice (without sweeteners such as high fructose corn syrup and sugar) and herbal teas. Although tempting, avoid caffeinated beverages such as coffee and soft drinks.
3. Turn your plate into a rainbow
As the saying goes, you are what you eat. When you don’t have adequate healthy food going into your body each day, you won’t function at optimal levels. 4 At each meal, eat plenty of healthy protein, fat, vegetables and fruits. And, because veggies and fruits are nutrition powerhouses, make sure you load your plate with a variety of beautifully colored fruits and veggies that range from red, blue and purple to orange and yellow.5 Bonus: When you eat this way, you model healthy eating for your kids. It’s a win/win!
4. Add energy boosting supplements
Sometimes the nutrients in even the healthiest foods aren’t quite adequate. That’s where supplements can help fill gaps in powerful ways. 6 An energy supplement like Plexus EDGE™ can be a healthy and effective method to reducing tiredness and getting sustained energy quickly, without the dreaded sugar crash. Its clinically-tested ingredients help you stay energized and focused, enhances clearer thinking, and improves mood.*
5. Keep moving
The more you move, the more you’ll move. Keep active each day by incorporating a healthy exercise regime. If you haven’t been in the habit of exercising regularly, not to worry. Check with your doctor to make sure it’s fine for you to begin an exercise program, and then start slowly. Gradually build up with more exercise. Great options are walking, Pilates and rebounding.
Struggling with energy on an ongoing basis could be the sign of an underlying health issue. Seek out the advice of your doctor or other qualified health practitioner with any concerns you may have.
By adding these simple strategies to your daily routine, you’ll likely find a boost in energy. And that’s something you and your kids can smile about all the way to the playground.
